Model Rectifier Control & Power Supplies 0001276 Editorial Review
The Model Rectifier Corporation Tech 7 AMPAC 760 Train Controller is a quality product that offers reliable power for train enthusiasts. It is designed mostly for HO, N, and Z scale trains, but can also run G scale locomotives. With a power output of 1.5 amps, it provides adjustable speed control ranging from 0-12 volts DC for trains and Constant 12 volts for accessories. One of the standout features of this train controller is the "Momentum" switch, which simulates a real train's lag in getting up to speed and how long it takes to stop. The "Brake" button utilizes the "Momentum" system to stop the train in a simulated mile. However, some users have reported that the lag time for the brake feature may be too long for layouts with multiple sidings. Customers have expressed overall satisfaction with this train controller, praising its user-friendly control panel and simple speed control. The compact design is also well-received, making it a convenient addition to any train set. Furthermore, the durability of this product is commendable, as evidenced by a reviewer's experience of the train controller still functioning after being submerged in water. However, there are a few drawbacks to Consider. Some customers have had difficulty connecting their older trains to this controller, as it may not be compatible with very old transformers. Additionally, there have been complaints about limited instructions or support for connecting all the necessary components together, which can be frustrating for those new to train sets. In conclusion, the Model Rectifier Corporation Tech 7 AMPAC 760 Train Controller is a reliable and user-friendly option for HO, N, and Z scale trains. While it may not be suitable for all types of locomotives and layouts, its features and durability make it a worthwhile purchase for train enthusiasts.
