The AcuRite 01089M Rain Gauge Station provides historical tracking of rainfall and weather data. The indoor display unit requires three AAA batteries, and each outdoor sensor requires two AA batteries, totaling four AA batteries. The rain gauge is easy to assemble and comes with a mounting bracket for easy installation on a level surface. The yearly rainfall total resets a year after the unit is powered on, and the unit can keep track of the rainfall total continuously over the new year if desired. The display shows current, weekly, monthly, yearly, and the previous year's rainfall, as well as the historical rainfall records. The rain gauge does not come with a leaf guard, but the opening is designed to keep most debris out, and the rain detector must be level for accurate results. Some customers have reported issues with the battery life of the remote, and when the battery dies, the base station must be restarted, resulting in losing all data. The maximum daily rainfall recorded by the rain gauge station is 99.99. One customer reported that the unit reads rainfall at half the correct amount, but most found it to be accurate, and there were reports of some difficulty reaching customer service.
