OWC External Hard Drives OWCTB38SRT016 Editorial Review
OWC ThunderBay 8 Eight-Bay Thunderbolt 40Gb/s External Storage Enclosure is designed to offer robust storage solutions for both Mac and Windows systems. With a data transfer rate of up to 2586 megabytes per second, it supports 8 devices, each accommodating 3.5-inch drives. Users appreciate its aluminum enclosure and solid construction that feels more durable than plastic alternatives. Additionally, many reviewers have highlighted the ease of setup and use, particularly when utilizing the soft RAID feature, which simplifies the process for non-technical users. However, it's important to note that expanding RAID 5 volumes can be cumbersome, requiring data backup and erasure. While the enclosure provides impressive performance, some users voice concerns about noise levels, especially under load, and occasional delays in accessing large directories.
