If removed, the sticky backing may damage the wall depending on the type of wall. Customers recommend making sure the surface of the wall is clean, dry, and even a little roughed so the adhesive has an ideal surface to stick to. Some reviewers recommend using another adhesive like picture hanging strips which worked well in their dorm rooms.
