ARRIS Routers W30 Editorial Review
The SURFboard mAX is a tri-band mesh router system that boasts of excellent bandwidth capabilities, especially for inter-device communication. It comes with one 2.4GHz band and two 5GHz bands: one for connecting devices and one for mesh network backhaul. The latter, however, is slower than using Ethernet for mesh transport. The device can be managed exclusively via the app, and currently, there is no web interface. There is also no option to customize LAN IP addresses, but a future firmware update is expected to address this. While the product is designed to work with Xfinity, users may have to set their modem in pass-through mode to prevent IP conflicts.
