Answer: This is very difficult to answer as I have no idea what build your son is or what he is trying to achieve with weights. I use 5Kg weights at the gym but only had 4 kg weights at home and they are more than adequate as I only want to keep my arms toned. I would say no less than 3kg or buy a bar that you can add weight discs to?? -
